Betts fills new role in SCRC

On July 1, Victor Betts will assume the new role of Student Success Librarian for Special Collections. This position addresses the university’s increasing use of and engagement with the SCRC’s collections and instructional and research support services. Betts will collaborate with faculty, librarians, and students to design and deliver both course-embedded instruction and research consultation services focused on rare books, manuscripts, archives, and other unique materials, across the full range of disciplines. He will conduct outreach to the university community and promote access to and use of special collections in all formats. He will maintain strong relationships with historically underserved and underrepresented communities to help capture the stories of marginalized populations on campus. Betts will collaborate with Libraries and university community engagement colleagues on programs, events, and exhibits in both physical and virtual spaces that feature special collections and archives along with other works. Victor Betts joined the Libraries in 2019 as an NC State University Libraries Fellow with assignments in the SCRC and the Student Success division.
